INTL: Spain - Towards a cleaner energy
Spain is one of the first countries to introduce the compulsory usage of solar panels in new homes. A nationwide law seeks to make all new householders have solar panels on their roofs and make use of the sunny climate in the country. With the new approach Spanish authorities aim to get a 10 times increase of solar powered households by the year 2010.
While this will most likely rise property prices the savings of energy will compensate it on the long run. The approach was first implemented in Seville and will now be taken nationwide. According to government sources a single 2x2 solar panel in one house can cut up to 70% of it's water heating bills every year. Now that’s a good investment...
Another country that for year now is pushing the increase of Solar Energy use is Japan. With high number solar days the energy savings are one of the best in the world. Spain is trying to implement the solar technologies and share the same results
