California Solar Panels Retailers exploit State Issued Rebates for more profit
The wall street journal just released one very interesting articles on solar panel rebates in California and their heavy exploitation by Solar Panels retailers and installers.
Since last year the demands for Solar Panels had increased dramatically especially under the fact that some states offer very attractive rebates for new solar systems. California State’s Department of Energy's Solar Energy Technology Program offer 1/3 rebate from the total price of your newly installed Solar Panel System and this attracts many to try and get it before the rebate program ends this fall.
The problem arises when we combine the huge demand and the limited amount of solar systems being manufactured due to some serious problems in acquiring the primary material needed for their manufacturing. Most of the new solar panels require great amount of Silicone for their manufacturing since they are silicone based, but the silicon manufacturing plants are not able to satisfy the huge consumption from the electronics and microchip industry and also the newly developed Solar Panels industry. Currently there are two giant silicone manufacturing plants that are being built but they won’t be ready for about two years and until then the market prices of silicone are expected to increase even more since the consumption is almost doubled each year.....
Currently Solar Panels Manufacturers are developing and testing other materials for Solar Panels but the expected time for the new discoveries to enter the public market are not earlier than one year or so and therefore the Solar Panel’s market is experiencing serious limits on the manufacturing side and solar panel prices are increasing. Since last year the prices for new solar system are up with 15% and the demand with about 200%.
The Wall Street Journal discovered that some manufacturers are allowing their most aggressive clients to pay higher price in order to get first on the waiting line and therefore have their system installed and qualified for the State Issued rebates before the program expires. On the other hand industry specialists are almost certain that after the state issued rebates program is over the overall Solar Panels Price will drop significantly and therefore are discussing the possibilities weather waiting for the prices to drop or hurry while the rebates are still offered.
